Two people were killed and another five injured in a shooting spree on Monday in the U.S. state of Florida, authorities said.
Seven people were shot -- two fatally -- in a shooting spree at around 4 p.m. in southeast Gainesville, Florida, the Gainesville Sun quoted authorities as saying.
The multiple shootings happened at different locations. Five people were shot within the city limits, while the other two were shot in Alachua County, said the report. It was unclear whether the shootings have any connections.
Tscharna Senn, spokeswoman for the Gainesville Police Department, told the paper that it appeared to be random shootings.
Police officers have responded to the scenes and cordoned off the area. Police said a suspect, who was reported to be driving a red truck, shot himself once he was pulled over. His condition was not immediately known.
Gainesville is the largest city in Alachua County, and is also home to the University of Florida, which is one of the largest universities in the country.
