At least 45 people were missing after the trawler they were traveling in capsized on river Buriganga near Ghoramara island in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal Saturday, reported the Indo-Asian News Service.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time when 40 to 45 people aboard the trawler went missing near Goramara island in South 24 Parganas district, said the report quoting police sources.
Police have also requested the Indian Navy to send divers for rescuing the victims, while the Coast Guard, river traffic police and the state government's disaster management wing have also been alerted, said the report.
