China and Nigeria celebrated their 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations at a reception in Beijing Friday.
Over the past 40 years, bilateral relations have developed soundly, said Feng Zuoku, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Becoming strategic partners in 2005, the two nations have seen ever deepening political mutual trust and expanding bilateral trade, he said, adding that both sides had cooperated well with each other in international affairs.
Aminu Wali, Nigerian Ambassador to China, said the two countries should take the anniversary as an opportunity to advance the bilateral strategic partnership.
China and Nigeria forged their diplomatic ties on Feb. 10, 1971.
