The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday warned against confrontational moves by South Korea, saying such moves will only result in an unpredictable and merciless punishment from the DPRK army, the official news agency KCNA reported.
The head of the north side to the inter-Korean general-level military talks sent a notice to the military of the south side on Friday to protest the constant provocation from the south, according to the KCNA.
"It is our invariable stand that direct fire at the area where leaflets are let fly will be a legitimate punishment by the army of the DPRK to the breakers of the Armistice Agreement," he said in the notice.
He urged South Korean authorities to immediately stop the confrontational moves, saying the reckless anti-DPRK confrontational moves will result only in an "unpredictable and merciless punishment" from the DPRK army.
It is reported that South Korea has scattered more than 1 million leaflets to the north side and perpetrated an "unpardonable military provocation" such as firing machine guns at the north side at random last week.
