An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook New Zealand South Island's largest city of Christchurch on Sunday but there have been no reports of damage.
New Zealand geological agency GNS Science said that the quake struck at 08:34 p.m. local time (0734 GMT) and was centered 10 km east of Lyttelton Harbour at a depth of 12 km.
It was centered in a similar area to several earthquakes that hit in quick succession on Saturday, ranging in magnitude from 3 to 4.8.
