A NATO official said on Thursday that it is up to the Libyan NTC (National Transitional Council) to confirm the alleged capture of Gaddafi, not the military alliance.
The official told Xinhua by phone that he can not confirm the media report that Gaddafi was injured and captured by NTC fighters.
"However, it's not up to NATO to confirm, it is the NTC," he said.
The military alliance has repeatedly said the former Libyan leader is not a target of its campaign in Libya, which aims to protect civilians.
