THE HAGUE, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch national weather institute KNMI issued a code yellow weather alert on Sunday, warning of strong winds expected to impact several northern provinces and potentially disrupt public transport.
The gusty conditions are forecasted to hit the Netherlands from Sunday night through Monday morning, posing risks to traffic and outdoor activities, according to KNMI. Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 80 km per hour inland and up to 100 km per hour along the coast.
KNMI cautioned that the strong winds could cause disruptions during Monday's morning rush hour and advised travelers to exercise heightened caution, especially on roads and bridges.
Cyclists, truck drivers, and vehicles towing trailers or caravans are particularly at risk, while delays to air travel are also a possibility.
The weather alert applies to the provinces of North Holland, Friesland and Groningen, as well as the Wadden Sea area and the Ijssel Lake region. Enditem
