KATHMANDU -- Three quarters of electric four wheelers imported by Nepal during the first five months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year were from China, the Department of Customs said on Sunday.
Nepal imported a total of 4,697 electric vehicles by mid-December and 3,590 of them came from China, accounting for 76.43 percent of the total, showed the department figures. (Nepal-China-Electric Vehicles)

KABUL -- The Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized 38 kg illicit drugs and arrested 11 suspects in connection with drug trafficking, purchase and sales, the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday.
Units of counter-narcotics police recently conducted an operation in the Durbaba district, eastern Nangarhar province, discovering 38 kg of illicit drugs, including methamphetamine and heroin, the ministry said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Criminal-Smugglers)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's police have begun inspecting passenger buses nationwide following a spate of accidents involving buses in recent months, a senior police officer announced on Sunday.
Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya stated that investigations into several serious bus accidents have revealed various mechanical and structural defects in the vehicles. (Sri Lanka-Accidents)

MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said it has arrested 57,129 people and seized illicit drugs worth 20.7 billion pesos (roughly 352 million U.S. dollars) on the black market during its anti-drug operations conducted from Jan. 1 to Dec. 15 this year.
