The Chilean ambassador to Mexico German Guerra told Mexico on Tuesday on what his country needs for disaster relief.
The ambassador told a local radio station that Chile needs specialized medical teams, portable bridges and satellite telephones as it has many rivers and a lot of its infrastructures like roads and bridges are severely damaged during the 8.8-magnitude earthquake on Saturday.
Chile also requested for temporary hospitals with capacity of performing surgeries, relay stations, generators, salty water purification systems, and autonomous dialysis centers, he added.
Guerra said the Chilean government has conducted a preliminary evaluation on major assistance needs before asking the international community for help.
Meanwhile, Ecuador announced Tuesday it is ready to send humanitarian aid to Chile, including doctors with the necessary equipment.
