Singapore announced on Wednesday a monetary donation of 50,000 U.S. dollars to Chile, which was rocked by a powerful earthquake early last Saturday.
According to a statement by Singapore's Foreign Ministry, the money will be channeled through the Singapore Red Cross to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The money will be used to purchase relief supplies requested by the Chilean government to help the quake victims.
Last Saturday, Singapore leaders extended their condolences to Chile's quake victims and expressed the willingness to join the international effort to assist the quake-hit country.
