The Chilean National Corporation of Copper (Codelco) said on Thursday that the massive earthquake that shook the central-south zone has had little impact on the country's copper production.
"In general, the earthquake will affect no more than 0.5 percent of the production," the state-run Codelco said in a statement.
An 8.8-magnitude earthquake devastated Chile's central-south regions of Andina, Ventanas and El Teniente on Saturday.
Codelco conceded that the interruption of electricity supply and some relevant damages to the transmission system caused by the massive earthquake had disrupted its operations.
However, it said that production has resumed in all regions except El Teniente, which will return to normal on Thursday.
