Chinese shares closed mixed on Friday after six days of consecutive losses, while posting a 7.67 percent loss for April.
The major gauge index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange ended at 2,870.61 points, up 2.18 points, or 0.08 percent.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 11,162.54 points, down 33.81 points, or 0.3 percent.
Total turnover shrank to 191.91 billion yuan (28.1 billion U.S. dollars) from 222.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 664 to 216 in Shanghai and 748 to 165 in Shenzhen.
