The mainland's delegation to the sixth cross-Strait talk, led by the ARATS president Chen Yunlin, left Monday morning for Taipei.
The mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) are scheduled to hold talks Tuesday morning in Taipei, during which the two sides will sign a medical and health cooperation agreement, and further discuss investment protection.
The talks will be the sixth round since the two organizations, authorized by the mainland and Taiwan to handle cross-Straits affairs, resumed negotiations in June 2008 after an 11-year suspension.
Wang Yi, the mainland's Taiwan affairs chief, said here on Monday that the cross-Straits talk should assist broad exchanges and cooperation between the sides.
