Chinese railway police caught 1,777 people for scalping train tickets in a crackdown during the seven-day National Day holiday travel rush, the Ministry of Railways said Friday.
The railway police cracked 1,568 cases of train ticket scalping cases during the crackdown codenamed "autumn wind," as hundreds of millions of Chinese hit the road for tourism or family reunions during one of the longest vacations in a whole year, running from Oct. 1-7.
The police also beefed up security check on travellers at train stations to ensure a safe journey, the ministry said.
