China's road transportation served about 520 million passengers nationwide during the weeklong National Day Holiday, an increase of 9.8 percent over the same period last year, government figures show.
A total of 840,000 vehicles transported the travelers, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) said.
The travel peak fell on Oct. 7, the end of the holiday, with about 75.8 million trips made during the day, an increase of 9.8 percent over the same period last year, according to the ministry.
Trips made by water transport reached 11.3 million during the holiday, up 2.4 percent over the same period last year, the ministry said.
