China's private enterprises nationwide have given 529 million yuan (77.6 million U.S. dollars) in donations as of 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, to support quake relief work in northwestern Qinghai Province.
Material donations also reached 94 million yuan (14 million U.S. dollars) in value, said Zhu Ping, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
About 64 private enterprises in Qinghai had donated 38 million yuan as of Monday morning, Zhu said.
As of 10 p.m. Monday, the death toll has climbed to 2,039, with 195 people still missing, according to the rescue headquarters.
