Sichuan aims to revive tourism
The Sichuan provincial government says it will launch a reconstruction plan next month in a bid to revive its tourism industry.
Sichuan farmers race to harvest grain
It's been three weeks since the devastating 8.0 magnitude earthquake jolted Southwest China's Sichuan province. The province is also known the breadbasket of China. Farmers are now racing against time to salvage crops from the rainy season.
'Poems on the Rubbles' released
Inspired by heart-rending tragedy and accounts of unyielding courage, poets are taking up their pens to commemorate the May 12th catastrophe. Some ordinary people also are becoming poets. "Poems of the Rubble", a collection of poems about the Sichuan earthquake has just been released.
Relic site intact after earthquake
There's more news on a positive note from Sichuan, where archeologists have completed a survey of the Qiqushan Temple, in Mianyang city. The city was one of the badly hit areas in the May 12 earthquake. The survey finds that the city's ancient architecture suffered little damage from the disaster.
Gig for children from quake areas
Eighty nine children from the Sichuan quake area are bathed in warm sunshine in Sanya. At the resort in south China's Hainan province they were warmed not only by the Sun but by the reception of the people who came out to see them.
Relief show raises funds in Thailand
In Thailand, a fundraising show, Tuesday evening helped to raise money for the continuing relief effort in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
12,000 soldiers continue search for missing copter
Still no sign of a missing helicopter that went down on the weekend. Chinese President Hu Jintao has told soldiers to spare no effort to look for the helicopter which had 19 people onboard. More than 12,000 troops and paramilitary personnel are now searching for the crash site.
Tangjiashan lake closer to bursting
The Tangjiashan barrier lake is getting closer to bursting. Aftershocks and rainfall continue to increase the risk. The Ministry of Water Resources says the water has already started seeping out of the barrier dam as they monitor the lake's water levels.
