Jamaican Usain Bolt timed 30.97 seconds to break the Ostrava Grand Prix event record of the men's 300 meter on Thursday.
The world record holder for the men's 100m sprint, 23, made a good go of braking Michael Johnson's world record of 30.85 seconds in the rarely run 300m.
His camptriot Asafa Powell, 27, claimed season best time of 9.83 seconds in the men's 100m, bettering the previous best of 9.86 run by Bolt in Daegu, South Korea earlier this month.
In other plays of Ostrava GP, local favorite Petr Frydrych set a season best throw of 88.23m in the javelin, while Ethiopia's Meselech Melkamu won the women's 10,000m with 31 minutes and 4.52 seconds.
