Organized by Smash Japan, a Japanese rock music concert and festival promoter, Fuji Rock Festival is the largest outdoor music event in Japan, featuring more than 200 Japanese and international artists. The Fuji Rock Festival gets its name from the first site of the event at the base of Mount Fuji in 1997. Since 1999, the event has been held at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. With its picturesque location, the festival claims to be 'The cleanest festival in the world' and puts great effort into recycling garbage generated by the concert.
