In 2012, Beijing raked in 331.5 billion yuan (US$52.6 billion) in local public budgetary financial revenue, up 10.3 percent. The city increased its public financial expenditures on people's livelihoods, with a total of 368.5 billion yuan (US$58.5 billion) spent to improve residents' living standards, up by 13.6 percent. Expenditures on transportation, education, social security and employment, and agro-forestry services went up by 22.4 percent, 20.9 percent, 19.2 percent and 18.9 percent, respectively.
