A Southern Chinese flavor restaurant called "Shanghai Village" is one of the favorites of local Chinese diners. Only open 6 months, the eatery has attracted many guests due to its nostalgic name and authentic dishes.

Shanghai food is blended with authentic dishes from East China's Jiangsu and Jiangxi Provinces, and makes the restaurant unique in Vancouver.
"Nanjing Salted Duck" is a house specialty. The duck is carefully selected from a small town in British Columbia. Bean curd is seasoned with five tastes; sour, sweet, bitter, spicy and salty; noodles are made from fish; and glutinous-rice dumpling served in soup are colorfully presented.
Ni Ming, the owner of the restaurant, immigrated to Canada 12 years ago. He says his guests, especially local residents, can tell the restaurant is offering authentic Chinese food because "Shanghai Village" is always packed with Chinese diners.
During the Winter Olympics the dining room is getting busier. By tasting Chinese food, and supporting Chinese athletes, the restaurant has become one of the best places to remember the homeland.
