Located in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province, Central China Normal University sits on the graceful Guizi Mountain beside the South Lake, covering an area of over 67 hectares. It is an important teacher training institution, which trains teachers for middle schools, colleges and universities. It also trains and educates and specialists in other fields.
The predecessor of the university is Wenhua College which was established in 1903. The university is renowned for its 24 schools and more than 60 institutions and research centers. It offers 59 undergraduate programs, 184 master's programs and 94 doctoral programs, and has 10 post-doctoral centers. Among all the 3,800 faculty members, more than 900 are associate professors or above. There are currently more than 3,000 students enrolled at the university, including more than 1,000 foreign students.
The university has established close relationships with many leading domestic and foreign universities and research institutes and has instigated domestic exchange activities with more than 100 universities in 70 countries and regions including the US, Germany, Japan, Russia, France, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea and Vietnam.
